Pyrenulaceae
Pyrenula chlorospila Growth type crustose Chemical results: K+ yellow, C-, KC-, P+ faint yellow, UV +/- whitish Can be locally abundant on smooth, shaded bark. Often forms large mosiacs with P. macrospora Waxy greenish to pale brown thallus flecked with small white pseudocyphellae. The small black perithecia are 0.2-0.4mm diam, the spores 3-septate, (25-)28-32(-35) x (9-)11-13(-14) µm. Microscope photograph below. Similar: Pyrenula macrospora has larger perithecia.
