Peridiothelia sp. Growth type lichenicolous Photographs on Pertusaria thallus Paul Cannon: "I think this could be the same as a collection on Fagus bark in Hampshire associated with Strigula tagananae, to which I gave the name Peridiothelia oleae. (See fungi.myspecies.info Peridiothelia oleae). However the ascoma and ascus structure need to be examined as there are other possible genera with differing ascomatal structures." Micrographs below. Similar: Peridiothelia fuliguncta, spores 1-septate, 17-22(25) x 7-9(10) µm but the spores in my specimen were slightly larger, 20-27 x 8-10 µm. |
